A little bit of history...
Several years ago, Curtis was in Scottsdale, AZ at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company selling one of two Body By Fisher signs that he had. It was raining so hard, few could leave there cars to make the long walk into the huge tent. Buyers that were interested missed the auction until the Deluge ceased. The Body By Fisher Sign sold for $32,000.00 which was less than it should have sold for. If the weather had been better, many more people would have been present to bid. The Body by Fisher sign was appraised at $100,000.00 By Roary Brinkman, of Barrett Jackson. This is why Curtis hangs on to the belief that the value of the Chevrolet Bowtie sign should reflect a similar price. This is one of only four that were made in the mid forties, and the sign is in great condition.
During the event a buyer asked Curtis if he'd take Fifty Thousand for the Chevrolet sign. Curtis said "No, I might consider $75,000.00" and the buyer came back and said that he thought he knew of someone else that might offer $70,000.00 for it. Curtis said he was not interested in $70,000.00 and walked off.
Selling the Body by Fisher sign, at Barret-Jackson for $70,000.00 LESS than what the sign was appraised for, did not leave Curtis in a very good mood so he wasn't in a bargaining mood.
There was a large vertical Chevrolet sign, from Detroit that sold around $100.000.00 that was 30 feet tall adding another reason to believe that the Bowtie sign that he has should sell for more than $50,000.00.
That was years ago, times have changed, the economy has changed some people are richer now.
Curtis is willing to start a dialog with anyone that has an interest in the sign and will consider any reasonable offer that is presented.
