Route 66. Also known
as 'The Mother Road'. Its a road
that stretches for 2,448 miles. It goes from Chicago, Il to
the beach at Santa Monica, CA. Of the original 2448
miles that made up Route 66, about 80-85% is still drivable.
In Oklahoma, every bit of it is still drivable. It winds its way
through 8 states. The beginning or the end of Route 66,
depends on the direction you are traveling. Are you going
East or West? For most people it just doesn't matter. Just
to be on the Historic Route 66 is enough for them. Time and
forward progress pretty much laid Route 66 to rest. In a
simpler time, the road was narrow and the dream of travel
was long. Route 66 conjures up memories of a different time
in America. In its hey day, millions of people traveled that
winding road, following the setting sun in search of their
dreams.
Today most of Route 66
is still there but the majority of the businesses are gone, and what is left is either
promoted for tourism or overgrown with grass. The Muscle Car
Ranch sits just 34 miles south of Route 66. Many tour groups
leave Route 66 to visit the Muscle Car Ranch for the short
hop down there. The Ranch gets visitors from all around the
world, from as far away as Europe, Asia and Australia. To get back
